Tip From the Archives
Downhill Sidehill Chip
Problem
You need to chip over the rough while facing a sidehill, downhill shot about 40 feet away from the pin.
Cure
Take a slow and steep swing to help get the ball up with a short ball flight.
Therapy
Aim your clubface left of the pin. Take an open and narrow stance. Align your hips and shoulders to the slope of the hill and place most of your weight onto your heels. Your backswing should be slow but because you will need a lot of wrist action, the clubhead will move up quickly. This will help ensure a steep enough forward swing to hit down onto the ball. Try to keep your head as still as possible even as you enter your follow through.
