Distance Using Trees

Problem

You use the trees on the course to help you decide the yardage. However, sometimes you are way off in this estimate.

Cure

Be careful of which trees you select to use as a point of reference for your yardages. This is because different shaped trees can give you a different result.

Therapy

You might overclub if you use a really tall trunked tree branches only at the very top of the tree, such as a palm tree. The height of these branches will cause you to add more distance to the yardage than what is really there. This is why it is crucial that you use the lower trunk of the tree as the point of reference. In contrast, a really bushy tree will cause you to use a lesser club than necessary because it is too easy for you to focus on the nearest branches. Make sure you use the center of the tree for the point of reverence.
