Tip From the Archives
Disruptive Players
Problem
The other players in your group are distracting you.
Cure
Whether it is alcohol, a series of poor shots, or due to a lot of fun, the other members in your group can affect your game. Do not allow their behavior to disturb your shot, even if it only carries on while you are trying to complete your preshot routine. Do not underestimate the importance of the preshot routine; you need this as a crutch to allow you to get into the proper mindset before taking your shot.
Therapy
Telling your group how you feel might be too difficult or awkward to do but perhaps essential in order to have a fun round. A simple pause and smile can help cue them in without having to say anything. If you cannot concentrate, freeze your body until they notice something wrong then look up and smile. Hopefully they will take the hint! Saying…Sorry guys, I am having a hard time concentrating or a statement like this might be helpful to add in so you are not placing direct blame on them but letting them know that you need them to tone it down a little. Restart your preshot routine and focus only on the shot at hand.
