Tip From the Archives
Difficult Opponent
Problem
You cannot seem to beat your friend or opponent at golf and you play your worst rounds when playing with this person.
Cure
A little competition is great because it will encourage you to practice more. But for the time being, only focus on your own game and do not play attention to how they are playing. This will help you maintain focus on important things such as target areas, rhythm, and visualization.
Therapy
Another thing to consider is that this person probably does not worry at all about beating you and might not even care if they lose to you. This is the kind of mentality that you want. Your goal should not be to beat him but to play the best you can. This means you should only measure your successes by making smooth, repeatable swings with a good rhythm. Chances are you play this game for fun so relax and play it to enjoy it.
This worked wonders! I always play really well until I play with my brother in Law and for some reason I get to caught up in things like ''I better not mess up" or "he can reach the green with a 9 iron I bet I can to" not worth it I relaxed and didnt care what he thought and I actually played better and ended up beating him by 5 strokes
