Tip From the Archives
Deep Rough Height
Problem
You want to learn how to control the height of your shots out of the rough.
Cure
Tilt the clubface towards the target for a low shot and away from it for a higher shot.
Therapy
When you want a low shot out of the deep rough, tilt the clubface towards the target. Put the ball towards the back of your stance with the handle leaning towards the target. Place a little more of your body weight on your forward leg. Make a descending blow, trying to hit the front side of the green and expect the ball to roll closer to the pin. If you want a higher shot, open the clubface and place about an equal amount of weight on both feet. Make sure you have the proper grip pressure because if you do not, the club will turn because the clubhead will catch in the grass.
