Cutting Across the Ball
Problem
You slice severely because you cut across the ball on your tee shot. Your might have lifted your forward heel up off of the ground during your backswing or allowed your back shoulder to lean forward during your forward swing, causing you to swing over the top.
Cure
When your lower body is immobile, it causes your upper body to overreact in an attempt to compensate. Make sure that you are making a proper hip turn to help support your swing; this will allow your shoulders, arms and hands to follow into your swing naturally.
Therapy
Be sure to keep your forward heel down during your backswing. Do not allow the shoulder furthest from the target to stick out during your downswing. If you are flat footed, you may need to slide your hips laterally when you should be turning your hips away from the target in order to prevent coming over the top during your downswing.
