Tip From the Archives
Create Sidespin
Problem
You want to gain a longer tee shot without having to make a more powerful swing.
Cure
You should try to create more sidespin for a lower ball flight.
Therapy
Take a lighter grip on the club than usual. Place the ball back in your stance a bit. Now close your stance to help encourage an in to out path. The pace of your forward swing needs to be faster than normal. Because you are using a looser grip than normal, you will notice the clubface closing earlier in your downswing. Allow it to happen and it will give the ball a nice sidespin.
Which way are you expecting this spin? For a righty, do you mean a draw so the ball moves from right to left?
