Control the Height

Problem

You want to get a better feel controlling the height with of iron shots.

Cure

Practice hitting near a tall tree and adjust your height and weight distribution to change the height of your shots.

Therapy

Start out by using your shortest numbered iron and make sure that the ball flies under the outer branches of tree with this club. Work your way up to your longer irons and compare the height difference between each shot. Now practice changing how far forward you place the ball and your weight to see how it affects the height of the ball flight with each iron. Experiment for at least an hour to gain a better feel for controlling the trajectory of your iron shots.

How can you work this when longest irons are lower number irons. Does this actually mean work from long irons to short irons? Believe that is what is meant.

I think it means that you are not suppose to use a wedge (you'd risk hitting the branches due to a lot of loft). For instance, your 9 iron is likely to be your shortest numbered iron and a 2 or a 3 would be your longest numbered iron. So work your way from the shortest iron you have, that is not a wedge, up to the longest iron in your bag.
