Compression
Problem
Needing compression for better ball flight in both distance and direction.
Cure
Compression requires correct footwork. You need leverage, not force for golf ball compression. It is more important to have a centered contact than a descending blow.
Therapy
The outside of your forward foot should rise slightly off the ground, but the inside of the foot, from toe to heel, should remain planted during your backswing. Your forward foot rolls from a slightly flared position at address, the forward knee will move laterally toward the back knee, and the club head will remain on the correct swing plane. Do not allow your heel of your forward foot to rise in your backswing because if it does, the club head will move outside the target line and away from you.
