Tip From the Archives

Cold and Wet

Problem

It is cold and raining out.

Cure

Club up and focus on making a smooth swing with flush contact with the ball. This is because with the ground being so wet, the club will tend to dig down too much into the soil.

Therapy

You need to keep your body warm so you do not lose flexibility or cause injury to your joints and muscles. Wear extra layers and bring plenty of towels. Remember to keep your equipment as dry as possible. Do not allow spend a lot of time standing or still. If walking is allowed on the course, you might want to. This will help keep your muscles warm and ready for your next shot.

In Oregon, I have found that the most difficult thing about playing in the rain is keeping your grips dry. If you can, buy rain gloves for both hands. That really seems to help.
