Clean It Out

Problem

You need to work on your ability to hit out of the bunker.

Cure

Because you are not supposed to focus on hitting the ball directly, draw two lines in the sandpit and practice knocking the sand out between them. The back end of the wedge is the bounce and it will help prevent you from taking too much sand or digging too deep. So you do not need to swing too hard to make the shot.

Therapy

The two lines should be about four inches apart. Set up so your feet are aiming left of the target. Open the clubface and do not forget to place a little more weight on your forward foot. Practice knocking the sand out from between the two lines. Do not try to kill the ball, all you need is an easy swing to knock the sand out from between the two lines and you will be letting the bounce of the club do all of the work for you.
