Chipping on a Downhill Side of the Green

Problem

You are worried about getting a strong downhill roll.

Cure

Have the ball land in the fringe to avoid excess roll. Keep the clubface open, a lot of loft, and don’t scoop it.

Therapy

Use your club with the most loft and hit with an open stance, playing the ball in the back of your stance, hands forward and low with clubface aiming where you want the ball to begin rolling. Adjust your weight forward towards slope of the hill to align your club as perpendicular to the ground as possible.
