Tip From the Archives
Block Out the Flag
Problem
You do not know how long the length of your swing should be when using wedges.
Cure
If you are 85 yards or closer to the pin then you can tell how high your backswing should be by looking to see how high your hands are when you can block out the view of your target.
Therapy
First, decide how far away you are from the green. If you are 55 yards or less, then the target is the hole or the spot on the green. If it is further away, then use the flag as the target. Take a slow swing and see where your hands block the view of the target during the follow through. This is how high you should allow your hands to swing back during your backswing. Now take a normal practice swing to establish proper speed and length before taking the shot.
