Barefoot Drill
Problem
Poor balance due to swinging too hard.
Cure
Swing barefooted to help create a more natural and balance swing.
Therapy
Swing a few of your higher irons barefoot and focus on keeping your feet planted below your body. Notice how when your backswing is slower then accelerate during the downswing, through and past the ball that the ball flight is further but with less effort. Be sure to finish your swing with your weight on the front foot. Your waist and chest should be facing the target. Once you have tried several clubs barefoot, put on your shoes and swing the same way.
I did this indoors the other day when practicing my drills, out of laziness. ie instead of putting on my golf shoes, and my slippers didn't give me a good purchase on the carpet, so I kicked them off.The results were impressive. Thoroughly recommended by me.
