Bad Short Putts
Problem
You are a great putter, as long as it is 6 feet or more away from the cup. You tend to miss most of your putts that are 5 feet or less away from the cup.
Cure
You really do not need to compensate for break when you are less than 5 feet from the cup. This makes it critical to work on your aim and to keep the putterface square to your line throughout the stroke. This may seem odd to you because you are used to opening and closing the face a little during long putts.
Therapy
Remember the importance of powering the stroke by rocking your shoulders during short putts. This will help prevent you from trying to snap your hands and club through impact, causing a jerking action. Set up with the putterface square to the target and make sure that it remains this way until you hear the ball sink into the cup. No peeking! Fight the urge to pick your head up or turn your head towards the hole until you hear the ball go in. If you move your head during the stroke, you will also move your upper body and move the putter off of your line.
1 to 5 foot putts are the length that we feel we should always make there fore increasing the choke factor. Just remember that there are at least a billion Chinese who could care less if you make it
