Avoid a Reverse Pivot
Problem
You have tried hinging and not hinging your wrists in attempt to gain distance but nothing has helped.
Cure
A good wrist hinge aids in creating a strong coil in the backswing for more distance. You might be creating a wrist hinge too late during the swing; this will be indicated by swaying in place of a turn or a reverse pivot. Instead of eliminating the hinge, try to work on better timing for this hinge.
Therapy
Try a slow swing without any wrist hinge and you will come to a point where your trailing arm flies up into a chicken wing and you cannot make an effective turn. Plus, you should also notice that your body weight is still placed over your forward foot because your body is tilting forward in an attempt to give enough room for a turn. In this tilt, you will find that you are dipping your leading shoulder into a reverse C pivot for a loss of distance. Now that you are able to see and feel the swing error, work on fixing it. Take another slow swing but this time hinge your wrists once your hands are about waist high. Your trailing arm will be a lot closer to your leading arm. Your shoulders will remain parallel to the ground or your leading shoulder will be a little higher at this point. By the time you reach the top of the backswing your weight should be shifted onto your trailing leg with a strong shoulder turn. You are now set up for a strong uncoiling into the ball for a long ball flight.
