Aim and Body Alignment

Problem

Poor aim or just need a refresher on how it is done.

Cure

Your feet should be aligned parallel to the line that runs from the ball to the target.

Therapy

Tee the ball then stand a few feet behind the ball look at the target and imagine that you are standing on a railroad track. Put both of your arms out so that your right arm is pointing at the ball and the target and this will be the outer rail of the track. Then notice how your left arm forms a parallel line or the inner rail. When you are at address, you should stand so your toes are aligned just along the inner rail. Allow a moment to set this image into your mind and then slowly walk closer to the ball with your arms still forming the two lines. Once you are close enough, lay a short club the same direction your right arm was pointing as outer part of the track; make sure it points from the ball towards the target. Then lay down a longer club the same direction your left arm was pointing to form the inner part of the track, which will help you to align your feet. Take your stance with your club head square to your body so the clubface points directly at the target. The path the club head will take should pass along the outer railway track.
