Tip From the Archives

Aggravated Golfer

Problem

You become very aggravated after hitting a bad shot.

Cure

Know your abilities and accept your limits. Think in terms of your average shots instead of your best shot ever made. You cannot depend on making your best shot every time and be upset that you have not duplicated it yet that day. So plan on and accept what your normal distances are as you are playing your next round of golf.

Therapy

You do not have control over the ball after you have hit it, so there is no need to dwell on the shot. If you cannot seem to get over it, analyze it later that night. Now is not the time to fixate on the mistake. Decide what it is about that shot that upset you so much. Were you embarrassed in front of other people? Did you forget a key thought that you needed in this swing style? Once you know why you were so angry with yourself, you will be one step closer to fixing the problem. So take a deep breath and enjoy the fact that you are out on the course while there are so many people in the world that are stuck at work!
