Abbreviated Swing

Problem

You need to work on your timing.

Cure

Take shortened swings to improve timing without the pressure of hitting the ball far.

Therapy

Set up to the ball normally. Start by swinging the club about as far as your stance is wide. By taking abbreviated swings, you will train parts of your body to swing in proper sequence because you are more at ease and simplifying the motion. You should notice a smoother tempo when you make the short swings; once you do, slowly increase in length until you are making full swings.
