A Good Finish

Problem

You need more power but cannot seem to stop focusing on every detail of your swing.

Cure

Ignore the details and the millions of possible key thoughts to use during your swing. This will only make your swing feel too mechanical. Instead, focus only on making a nice finish. It is rewarding because your swing will naturally fall into place once you take your mind out of it while keeping your only key thought to complete the swing.

Therapy

You know you have completed your swing properly if you end the swing in balance with your weight place mostly on your forward leg. What surprises most players is that a sign of a good finish is when your knees are touching at the end of your follow through. You want to see that both your sternum and belt buckle will be facing the target at the end of your swing. Your trailing wrist should be flat with the arm extended so that the club is just past your leading shoulder. So if you need multiple thoughts to feel at ease during your swing yet find it also inhibits it, try to delay your mental checklist until you finish the swing. Pause your finish and run through the list.
