A Closed Clubface
Problem
You have difficulties hitting your long iron and tend to have a closed clubface at impact.
Cure
You probably notice that it is difficult to force the clubface open in order to prevent it from hooking. You might even have to flip the clubface open at impact. To avoid doing this, make sure you do not allow your upper body to hang back during the forward swing.
Therapy
One option is to open the clubface more as you take the club back. However, if you are hitting your short irons well, you might not want to change your swing style. Use the closed clubface to your advantage. Place the ball forward and open your stance a little. Work on opening your upper body up through impact.
